A balcony with a view to the future
Ever since the early days of my localization career in the mid 1980’s, generating ideas and challenging concepts have been important factors for finding my space in the industry. It is typically “thinking out of the box” that creates the opportunities for real change which occasionally leads to significant improvements in terms of direction and mindset. Other times ideas are less revolutionary, but still valuable for bringing about process improvements, a better work environment, etc. Of course, what may seem like a great idea at the time can also prove to be flawed or simply not gain traction for whatever reason, thus leading to nothing at all, but such is the nature of creativity.

Buying language services in Argentina
Argentina is becoming increasingly popular as a location for sourcing Spanish language services. The country has a well educated population overall and strong translation resources in particular thanks to the many universities featuring translation programs. A high level of cost efficiency as a legacy from its financial meltdown a few years back provides another key advantage. This remains significant and looks set to remain a plus point for the foreseeable future, although you some gradual erosion over time seems inevitable. Inflation figures in excess of 10% annually is starting to put pressure on costs, especially for larger companies as office rentals and employee overheads are increasing even faster. Still, a convenient time zone for collaboration with both Europe and North America, as well as a strong cultural alignment with those locales, promises to ensure Argentina continued to offer a compelling story when it comes to translation projects.
